The small team behind the new magazine MKP2 created a short film called Recycle without any sponsors or support from media outlets.
The project was made purely out of love for snowboarding and for seeing riders fulfill their dream of snowboarding in their own city, Madrid.
Since Madrid has no natural snow, the team recycled snow from Spain’s only indoor ski slope. Using biodegradable bags and shovels, they transported small amounts of snow to different urban spots around the city to film extreme street snowboarding tricks. They wanted to bring snowboarding to the same urban environment as skateboarding, highlighting that both sports share the same spirit of freedom.
Only three bags of snow were used: one for the entrance, half for the exit, and half for the jump ramp. The team avoids mentioning which skateboarder previously did the same jump to prevent controversy, but they reference it indirectly.
The project credits the riders (Mario, Manu, Alex, Alejandro, and David), director and filmer Sergio Segovia, photographers Iker, Carlos, and Gustavo, independent photographer Nacho Trueba, and independent filmer Richard Sparowe.
They thank everyone who supported Recycle and emphasize that the project was completed without financial backing from any brand. The video includes many more locations than shown in the photos, and they hope viewers enjoy it.
GLASSES
This short film was shot with rider Alex at the indoor snowpark in Madrid, Spain.
Some tricks were filmed in black and white, while others weren't; this editing style was chosen to highlight the difficulty of the moment.
A trick isn't just complicated by its difficulty; sometimes it's your state of mind that prevents you from performing it. Alex had some tough days, and we wanted to emphasize the difficulty of the trick by giving it a black and white tone.
The barriers are in your mind.
